Our Grade 5 students visited the Art, Culture, and Interactive Learning Workshop “Eneka Paideias”, where they participated in and attended the program “A Journey to Byzantine Times.”The children had the opportunity to travel through time as both spectators and performers in Byzantine Constantinople. Traveling back through history on a Byzantine ship, the students explored key moments of the city’s founding, everyday Byzantine life, the Hippodrome and its famous chariot races, as well as the historical events of the Nika Revolt. They also learned about the eras of emperors Justinian, Heraclius, and Leo III, the battles against invaders such as the Avars, Persians, and Arabs, and the heroism of Digenis Akritas and the border guardians. Concluding their journey, they met the Byzantine Fates and stood alongside Constantine XI Palaiologos during the final battle that led to the Fall of Constantinople. It was a deeply immersive and unforgettable educational experience that allowed students to live history in the most engaging way possible.
