Georgios Linardatos studied Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (B.Sc., M.Sc.) in Glasgow. He received his Teaching Degree (Grade Excellent) from the School of the Pedagogical and Technological Education University in Athens. Since 1998 he has occupied the positions of Highschool Teacher, Senior Highschool Director, Junior Highschool Director and General Director at the Avgoulea-Linardatou School. He served as elected Chairman of the Greek Independent Schools and currently serves as member of the board, which he represents at the European level (ECNAIS). Under his leadership Avgoulea-Linardatou School, has grown into one of the largest, most prestigious and technologically advanced schools in Greece. Today it serves over 1.500 students, employs 370 employees and carries the distinction of Microsoft Showcase School.
After completing my studies in Mathematics and Financial Economics in the UK, I focused on conducting research on technology-enhanced embodied learning as a PhD candidate at the University of Piraeus. Following Avgoulea-Linardatou school’s legacy by choosing to become an educator, I came to realize that a major reform was needed in the way our students experienced learning inside and outside the classroom. My goal was to arouse our students’ interest, to engage them in the construction of knowledge and to empower them by developing 21st century skills. As a result, I decided to set up a professional development strategy which would focus on integrating different and innovative pedagogical projects into the formal curriculum, using a constantly updated infrastructure of new technologies. Due to this effort, we managed to reach the highest number of educators who have been certified as Microsoft Innovative Expert Educators in Greece, Malta & Cyprus. At the same time, my eagerness to shape an open-minded culture across our teaching staff, coupled with my willingness to share with the international educational community the advancements we have made as an institution, led me to an amazing journey, which started by participating as a speaker in the global Education Exchange Event by Microsoft as well as in the “Digital education for a strong recovery: A forward look “ conference by OECD.
After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics at the University of Leicester, I continued my academic journey at Imperial College London, specializing in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management, before pursuing further studies in School Psychology at the University of East London. This diverse academic background allowed me to bridge the worlds of economics, innovation, and psychology, equipping me with a holistic perspective on education and leadership.
My commitment to service and community was shaped through volunteering projects that spanned from South Africa to charity initiatives within universities, experiences that instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility toward social impact. As a member of the Board of Schools in Action, a collaborative community within private schools, I was able to contribute to initiatives that emphasized the importance of enhancing local communities and cultivating environments driven by ethos and respect. These engagements played a pivotal role in shaping my vision of education as a force for both personal and collective transformation.
Guided by this vision, my goal is to create a powerful school community where students, parents, and employees are united in a shared mission of growth, respect, and empowerment. I aspire to foster a culture that not only nurtures academic excellence but also inspires collaboration, resilience, and ethical responsibility, values that will prepare our students to thrive as compassionate leaders in the 21st century.
Dimitra Papaiōannou has been a music teacher at Avgoulea‑LinarDatou since 1993 and served as Deputy Head of Primary from 2007 to 2020. For over 25 years she has directed the school’s choir and orchestra, leading concerts and activities including UNICEF events.
Dionysis Kampolis was born in Athens and trained at UCLA (Bachelor of Arts and MFA) and completed postgraduate studies with an Onassis Foundation scholarship. He has taught fine arts since 2005 and served as Director of Yale University's International Internship Program in Athens. He also founded Artspace gallery and has exhibited his work internationally.
I have been working in the field of education for thirty-three years. For the past twenty years, I have been employed at Avgouleas–Linardatos Schools. For the last ten years, I have been responsible for the Department of Philologists. I coordinate the teaching of philological subjects from the 1st year of Junior High School through the 3rd year of Senior High School, aiming at the smooth operation of the department. In collaboration with my colleagues, I organize the teaching programs in full alignment with the official Curriculum.I am responsible for teaching, educational activities, clubs, and competitions carried out within the Philologists’ Department. I oversee the preparation of lesson plans, reading promotion initiatives, and the implementation of teaching activities throughout the department.
Michalis Paraskevopoulos studied Theology at the University of Athens and completed a Master of Theology at the University of Edinburgh. He holds a doctorate in Comparative Philosophy of Religion and works as a mentor with the Theology Faculty at the University of Athens. He has taught at the school since 1998. He is our Head of Theology Department.
