On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the students of the 8th grade (2nd Gymnasium) who are studying German carried out an educational visit to the German Archaeological Institute of Athens, as part of linking language learning with culture and history.The guided tour lasted approximately one and a half hours and was conducted by the German guide Mrs. Katharina Brandt, who speaks fluent Greek. She initially addressed the students in German, giving them the opportunity to experience the language in an authentic setting. The presentation then continued in Greek to fully present the commemorative exhibition marking 150 years of the Institute’s operation.During the visit, students learned about the activities of the German Archaeological Institute in Athens and Greece in general, its founding history, and its long-standing and meaningful collaboration with Greek scientific and archaeological institutions.Special reference was made to important archaeological research and excavations carried out across various regions of the country, with Olympia serving as a characteristic example, highlighting the role of international cooperation in the study and preservation of cultural heritage.This educational visit was a highly interesting and experiential learning opportunity for the students, contributing to the development of their language skills, the strengthening of their historical knowledge, and the enrichment of their overall school experience.
