On Friday, December 12, a unique interactive and humorous English-language theater performance by the English Theatre Club took place on the stage of our school’s event hall. Middle school students watched the performance “CYRANOSE,” a playful adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s masterpiece “Cyrano,” presented as a hilarious comedy inspired by the classic play.Cyrano is a famous soldier, skilled swordsman, and talented poet. He is also known for his very large nose. He is in love with Roxane but does not dare to confess his feelings because of his nose. When Roxane reveals that she is in love with the handsome soldier Christian, Cyrano loses all hope. Christian is also in love with Roxane but does not know how to express his feelings. Cyrano agrees to help Christian win Roxane’s love by writing romantic poems in Christian’s name. However, Christian eventually realizes that Roxane is actually in love with Cyrano rather than him.The question raised by the performance was: who will prevail? The physical beauty of Christian or the inner beauty of Cyrano?
