Sixth-grade students of our Schools participated in experiential activities organized by the “Network for Children’s Rights,” on the occasion of International Children’s Day (December 11).The Network is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 with the main goal of promoting and protecting children’s rights, as defined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989). It also develops initiatives aimed at awareness-raising, active engagement, and respect for children’s rights. Its programs promote solidarity, cooperation, networking, volunteering, social participation, and give children a voice to express themselves.More specifically, our students participated in an escape room program titled “Time Travelers! Tracing the Rights of the Child,” a fictional story based on real events. This interactive adventure used puzzles, riddles, and creative challenges to engage students in a hands-on learning experience about children’s rights and history. The escape room was inspired by the life of Eglantyne Jebb, a defender of children’s rights whose pioneering work laid the foundations for child protection worldwide.Additionally, through the “Traveling Library” activity, children had the opportunity to explore books, take part in games, and engage in creative activities that helped them learn about their rights, how to claim them, and how to respect the rights of others.More information about the Network for Children’s Rights can be found at https://ddp.gr/gr/Click here to view photos.
