With deep emotion, we bid farewell to Dr. Jane Goodall, the renowned British primatologist, ethologist, and activist. Dr. Goodall passed away on October 1st, 2025, at the age of 91. Tireless and dynamic, she was in California for a talk aimed at raising public awareness on environmental protection.Jane Goodall dedicated her life to the study and protection of chimpanzees, beginning in 1960 at Gombe National Park in Tanzania. Her discoveries fundamentally changed scientific understanding of animal behavior, proving that animals have personality, emotions, and intelligence. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute and the global youth program Roots & Shoots, inspiring millions of people to take action for a better world. Our school had the honor and joy of meeting Dr. Goodall twice during her three visits to Greece, specifically on December 15, 2016 at the Athens Concert Hall and on December 10, 2018 at the Pallas Theatre. Students and teachers attended two inspiring talks titled “Reasons for Hope.” Although each talk lasted only one afternoon, her words inspired a lifetime for members of our school community who were present. Her passing marks the end of an era for science, ecology, and humanity.Rest in peace, Jane. Thank you for everything!
